I Wrote This For You: 2007 – 2017 Hardcover – October 24, 2017
I need you to understand something. Ten years ago, I started writing this for you. I wrote it for you and only you. Since then, millions of other people have read it, but none have understood it the way you understand it. I set out to find you a long time ago and today, I’m so glad I finally have. Thank you for reading these words.

“Thomas’s poetry knows your every passing thought and worry and somehow knows just what medicine you need to treat your wounds.” —Amanda Lovelace, author, The Princess Saves Herself in This One
“This ten year celebration of their collaboration is a longer, more intimate look at the same sort of soft magic we’ve come to expect from Iain Thomas’ prose and Jon Ellis’ photography.” —Trista Mateer, author, Honeybee

A collection of beautiful poems. A bit repetitive at times.

Wow this is by far my favorite book and poet of all time. The photography is incredible and matches the feel of the words. He did an amazing job making you feel so at ease and has you thinking about the bigger picture. Really smooth with words my top 10 books to have on my book shelf.

I have loved this writer since I was first introduced to his work in 2012. This book has a great cover, which looks and feels amazing. The content is spot on, so if you’ve enjoyed any of his work you are bound to find that same joy in this compilation. I would definitely recommend this to every one of my friends, even if they don’t usually enjoy poetry/prose. His writing style just eats away at your heart until it has made a home, and you begin to feel that every word literally was written just for you. His blog and the first book he published actually helped me through many dark times in my life. I hope that this review will lead you to also having him in your life.

If you understand and see the beauty that can come from pain, you’ll fall in love with this book. I think everyone can relate to multiple pieces that are deeply expressed. This is a book where a review isn’t going to tell you how it is or what it’s about. It’s communicated through emotion and your own story. I can’t tell you if I recommend it or not, simply because I don’t know you. But if you’re happy or content with your life whether you are sharing it with another person or not, then maybe you should read this sometime.

One of the most touching books of poetry I have ever read. My mind drifts off to what the subject of the book must be like? If she ever finds it, I wonder what she will feel knowing one person noticed every feeling and emotion at such a deep level. I bet she doesn’t think she is worthy of such a book.

There are no words to describe the beauty this book hold. Every page has the power touch you in some way, shape, or form. The photographs are phenomenal and Iain’s writing is simply breathtaking. You will find yourself coming back to these words again and again to find comfort, inspiration, and peace within yourself. This is by far one of my favorite books in my collection.

I remember discovering I Wrote This For You as a blog in 2007 and getting so excited for the released of Iain’s first book.
As soon as I found out there was a newer version, I ordered it right away. Some of these poems have saved my life again and again.
I am forever thankful for this author and his beautiful perspective on the world and sitatiuons.

There were a lot of beautiful new pictures but lots of old poems. The poems from 2015-2017 were new but most of the others were old, just new pictures with them or handwritten instead of typed.

My favourite poetry collection.

I first discovered Iain S Thomas on Instagram and I was hooked. His poetry spoke to me in the midst of a break up. He encapsulates a feeling towards something in a raw and beautiful way. I have yet to find another poet who writes quite like this. I read a lot of poetry but he is definitely my favourite poet. One of my favourites ‘The Light that shines when things end’ has taken on a new meaning during lock down.

A book that can make me think about, or consider my life, and the world around me, is a winner. I loved it from beginning to end.
