A LAY OF THE LAND

Minnesota is located in the upper Midwest, in the north central U.S. along the Canadian border. The state is about 400 miles long from top to bottom, and the width varies from 200 to 350 miles across. The state is divided into five regions. Minnesota borders Lake Superior along the state’s northeastern edge, and the Mississippi River flows throughout much of the state.

MSP Airport

MSP International Airport is surrounded by Minneapolis, St. Paul and the suburban cities of Bloomington, Eagan, Mendota Heights and Richfield. As the 17th busiest U.S. airport for passengers, MSP is home base for hometown carrier Sun Country Airlines and Delta Air Lines’ second largest hub.

The airport has received various accolades including awards for safety, concessions and airport design. Most recently, MSP was named the 2017 top North American airport for efficiency excellence in its size category by the Air Transportation Research Society.

Airport Hubs & Terminals

MSP has one airfield with four runways and two terminal buildings (Terminal 1 & 2), each with adjoining parking ramp facilities. Travelers who need to transfer from one terminal to the other use the light rail transit service. There is no pedestrian access between the buildings.
