Jackson Kenner – Forbidden Love
You are the eldest daughter of the infamous hybrid Klaus Mikaelson. When you move to New Orleans with your father and your family, you meet and catch feelings for the werewolf, Jackson Kenner. You know your father would hate you being with Jackson, so the two of you do that cliché movie thing of sneaking around like teenagers. It all works until you get caught.

New Orleans, your home. You had come here a couple of years ago with your father and the rest of your family after discovering the werewolf Hayley Marshall was pregnant with your father’s child. Hayley was around the same age as you and at first, it had disturbed you that she was going to be the mother of your brother or sister. However, you looked past that and offered her your help. Then Hope came along and of course, Rebekah took the child for her own safety, but now Rebekah and Hope were back and that was amazing. You adored Hope, you had always wanted to be a big sister.
You were Y/N Mikaelson, daughter of the infamous original hybrid, Klaus Mikaelson. Being the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson was hard, but being a Mikaelson, in general, was hard. Your family fought like dogs, but you all loved each other and would stop at nothing to protect each other. That was one downside of your family; their overprotective tendencies and boy were they protective of you. You may not be the baby of the family anymore, but that didn’t stop them from being very, very protective of you. Your family would quite literally kill someone if they got on their nerves enough or if they simply just didn’t like them.
That’s why you had not told them about the man you had been seeing for six months now because you knew that they would kill him. Especially because of who he was. Jackson Kenner was a brunette, brown eyed werewolf and you had fallen for him hard. He was the definition of your perfect man, he was sweet, gentle, loving, funny, charismatic, and any other good word you could think of. As cliché as it sounds, you had met in a coffee shop about eight months ago, you had talked and he had made you laugh and to you, that was…perfect. It had been you who had asked him on a date after two months of knowing one another. If there was anything you got from your father, it was your boldness. Jackson, thankfully, said yes and you’ve been together ever since.
However, you couldn’t tell your father or the rest of your family about him because you didn’t want him to be harmed. Jackson understood that and you were grateful. Maybe one day you would tell your family about this wonderful man, but not right now. So, that’s why you and Jackson had been sneaking around for the past six months. You had to admit, sneaking around like you were a pair of teenagers was kind of thrilling, it made you feel alive and rebellious.
Right now, you were sat inside the coffee shop where you and Jackson had first met. You were in a booth that was tucked away in the corner where you wouldn’t be disturbed. You and Jackson had agreed to meet here this morning. You never showed up or left anywhere together lest you be caught by someone. You had one hand curled around a coffee cup while you scrolled through your phone with the other, Jackson would be here any minute now and you couldn’t wait to see him. Sure enough, a couple of minutes later, you heard that gruff voice that you loved so much. Even just the sound of his voice made you grin brightly.
“Hey, gorgeous,” Jackson said as he slid into the booth opposite Y/N.
Jackson had to admit that he never saw himself falling in love with a Mikaelson, but Y/N was different. She was bubbly, funny, and so sweet and kind. He once saw her help an old woman cross the street and help a child find his parents after getting lost. Not to mention that British accent that came along with being a Mikaelson. That accent of hers just did something for him, it made him fall for her so much more. He had fallen for her without even thinking about it.
Woody Allen once said: “The heart wants what it wants. There’s no logic to these things. You meet someone and you fall in love and that’s that.” He thought that quote fit them perfectly because his heart wanted her, he’d fallen deeply in love with this magnificent woman and that was that. There was no getting out of this for him. Sure, they were sneaking around and there were often times where he would have to pass her in the French Quarter when she was out with her family and he would just want to come up to them and hug her or give her a kiss and there were times where he just wanted to kiss her right in the middle of the street to let everyone know that she was his and he was hers. But they couldn’t do that because she didn’t want her father to kill him like they both knew he very well might if he ever found out that they were together.
Their love was forbidden and that just made it all the more exciting.
“Hi, sweetheart,” you replied, shooting him a smile.
“I’ve missed you,” he admitted. They hadn’t seen each other for almost two weeks since she had been busy helping her family with things and he’d been helping his grandmother. Sure, his grandmother knew about him and Y/N and approved. Well, she approved after a little while of getting to know Y/N, but Y/N just hadn’t been able to get away from her family to come down to the Bayou and see him.
“I’ve missed you too, Jack,” you told him. You reached across the table and gave his hand a squeeze before reluctantly pulling it away. “What are we doing today?”
“Well, I was thinking once we’ve finished our coffees that we could go to the Bayou for a few hours?” Jackson suggested. “We could spend some time together down by the lake and my grandma’s been asking for you.”
You grinned brightly at that, you did love Mary. “Sounds like a fun day.”
Once you and Jackson had finished your coffees, you left the shop. Of course, you didn’t leave together, Jackson left first and told you that he’d meet you at his car that he’d parked a block away. You waited a few minutes and then left, quickly getting to his car. You looked around to make sure no one was following you or watching you and when you were sure that no one was, you got into his car and the two of you headed to the Bayou.
The drive to the Bayou was just like any other typical drive they went on. They had the radio turned up and they sang along to their favorite songs. They stole glances and shared a little kiss each time they stopped at a traffic light. Jackson couldn’t quite believe how lucky he was to have her by his side. She was his everything, his one true love. Her being a Mikaelson didn’t change that. It never would. Nothing would.
When they got to the Bayou, he parked his car in the usual spot at the back of the house and they got out of the car. Jackson quickly went around to her side and stopped her in her tracks so she couldn’t go anywhere. “Before we go inside, there’s one thing I’ve been dying to do,” he told her. That’s all he said before wrapping his arms around her, pulling her in close, and kissing her in a way that would make even movie stars jealous.
You smiled into the kiss and locked your arms around the back of his neck, one of your hands threading itself into his long, very soft, brown hair. You hummed in content and your body filled with warmth.
When the two of you pulled away, you rested your foreheads together and smiled. “Wow, you’ve really missed me, huh?” you teased.
Jackson laughed and nodded, “I really missed you,” he said before giving her one more kiss. “We should go inside before my grandma comes out to see where we are. You know she hates to be kept waiting,” he joked.
“Then let’s not keep her waiting,” you replied, taking his hand and pulling him towards the house. You loved Mary, she was like the grandmother you never had since Esther was never there and when she was, she tried to kill you. You were happy that Mary was the only one who knew about you and Jackson. Well, other members of the pack knew too but didn’t ever say anything about it. Mary had only found out because she had caught Jackson on the phone with you and had asked about you. Initially, she had been skeptical about you because you were a Mikaelson, but once she met you, she accepted you into the family because she saw how happy you made Jackson and to quote her words: “If my boy’s happy, I’m happy.” You and Jackson walked into the little wooden cabin that overlooked the lake and you were instantly greeted by Mary.
“Oh, you’re back. Y/N, it’s so good to see you again. How are you, dear?” Mary asked, pulling the young girl into a hug and kissing her cheek before doing the same thing to Jackson.
“I’m good. Thank you, Mary. How are you?” you asked.
“I’m good. Thank you,” Mary replied. “Let’s go sit down and have some tea and then you two kids can go and spend some time together.”
After you’d drank your tea and talked to Mary for a while, you and Jackson left the house and decided to walk around the Bayou for a little bit. The two of you often did this when you came here. There was just something about this place that made you feel calm and free and safe. You felt like you no longer had to worry about sneaking around and being caught. You felt like you were no longer under the protective eye of your father. You could just be yourself and be with Jackson.
Jackson had his hand linked with Y/N’s as they walked along the edge of the lake. It was tranquil and it was such a beautiful day. They walked a little further and found some of the pack children playing with water guns by the edge of the lake, they were all laughing and having a good time. They saw him and Y/N approaching and they all grinned and ran up to them. “Hey, looks like you guys are having fun,” he said. He noticed Y/N had let go of his hand and had now bent down to talk to Oliver, one of the young boys who had been taking part in the water fight. He couldn’t help but smile, she was great with children, he could tell she was a big sister.
You were talking to the Oliver about the water fight he and the other children had been having. Then, you got an idea. “Can I borrow that water gun for just a second?” you asked quietly so Jackson couldn’t hear. He looked at his gun and then back at you and handed it to you. “Thanks, buddy,” you said before moving and filling the gun up with water from the lake before standing up. “Hey, Jack,” you said, getting his attention and once you did, you squirted him with the water.
“Oh, you did not just do that,” Jackson laughed as he looked at Y/N who was now giggling along with the children. “Can I borrow that?” he asked one of the young girls, Kara, who happily handed him her water gun. “You’re on, sweetheart,” he told her before shooting water at her.
You squealed and ran off, turning every now and again to shoot him with water, he was chasing after you still shooting you with water. Both of you were laughing and so were the children. Eventually, your gun ran out of water and you dropped it on the ground and ran.
“I’m gonna get you, Y/N/N,” Jackson teased as he too dropped his gun and chased after her. The children were running behind him laughing at his and Y/N’s antics while also shooting him and each other with water.
You felt a pair of strong arms wrap around your waist and you squealed and giggled as Jackson picked you up, spun you, and threw you over his shoulder. “Jack, put me down,” you giggled.
“Hmmm, no,” Jackson replied playfully. “I have a better idea,” he added before his fingers delved into her sides and he started tickling her while keeping her on his shoulder with his other arm. She started squealing and giggling and wriggling around in his arms and he just grinned and laughed. He loved hearing her laugh, it was one of the most beautiful sounds he had ever heard.
After a few moments, Jackson stopped tickling her and planted her back on her feet. The children had picked up the discarded water guns and ran off to play again, so it was just the two of them now. They both had the biggest grins on their faces and were still laughing a little bit. Jackson put his hands on her hips and pulled her in close to him. “Well, so much for spending a day relaxing by the lake,” he joked.
“I much prefer this. It was a lot of fun. Plus, the look on your face when I got you for the first time was priceless,” you teased.
“You’re so mean, I can’t believe you did that,” he laughed. “You are very lucky I love you,” he said softly.
“I love you too,” you replied. You leaned forward and sealed your lips over his, one of your hands moving to the back of his head so you could run your fingers through his hair. Your other hand was on his cheek, your fingers brushing over his little beard.
The next few hours were spent sitting by the lake talking and laughing and just spending time together. This is what you wanted, you just wanted to be with him like any other normal couple. Of course, you couldn’t do that, not yet. When the time was right, you would tell your father and the rest of your family.
It was dark now as you and Jackson walked down the streets of New Orleans towards your home. Jackson always insisted on walking you as close to the Abbatoir as possible. He had parked a few blocks away so he could walk with you and spend more time with you. The streets were surprisingly quite empty, but you didn’t mind that, it meant you could walk with Jackson and not be disturbed. You felt Jackson link his fingers with yours and you looked at him with an arched brow. That was a bold move considering how close to your home you were.
“What? Don’t look at me like that. The streets are practically empty, just let me hold your hand,” Jackson said.
You smiled and nodded before giving Jackson’s hand a squeeze. “You know what, the streets are practically empty and no one is paying attention to us,” you started, stopping both of you in your tracks. You moved so you were stood in front of him. “Which means I feel safe enough to give you one last kiss before we say goodnight.”
With that said, you put one hand on the back of his head and pulled him towards you until your lips met his. He wrapped his arms around your waist and held you flush against him while you hooked your arms around the back of his neck.
Kol and Rebekah had been on a walk around the streets of New Orleans to get a bit of fresh air. They were just heading back to the Abbatoir when they noticed two people trapped in a lovers embrace across the street. “Ugh, do they have to make it so public?” Kol commented.
“I think it’s quite sweet, they’re very clearly in love,” Rebekah added.
“That’s because you’re a hopeless romantic, sister and because you’re in love whereas I am not,” Kol replied. He saw the couple pull away from each other and his eyes went wide when he saw the girls face under the yellow glow of the streetlights. He grabbed Rebekah’s wrist and stopped her from going anywhere. “My, my, looks like our niece has been keeping a secret from us, our dear brother is not going to be pleased.”
Rebekah looked over at the couple and her eyes went wide too when she saw her niece, then she saw the man who was with her and her jaw clenched. “Nik is definitely not going to be happy considering that’s Jackson Kenner she’s kissing.”
Kol wasn’t pleased about that. “No he is not and neither am I,” Kol inputted. “Our darling niece certainly is a rebellious one. Of all people we could catch her kissing, it’s the werewolf Jackson bloody Kenner.”
You pecked Jackson on the lips one last time and then the two of you said goodnight before you went your separate ways. You couldn’t seem to wipe away the smile off your face as you walked the last block to your home, you were so lucky to have Jackson in your life. He was your sanctuary, your happy place, your forbidden fruit. As you walked down the streets, you heard something move behind you, but when you turned around there was nothing there. “Great, I’m getting scared by what’s probably a stray cat now,” you grumbled to yourself. When you turned around, you were met with the faces of Kol and Rebekah. “Bloody hell, you scared me,” you gasped, putting your hand over your heart.
“Well, if it isn’t our darling niece. What are you doing out at this time, Y/N? We haven’t seen you all day,” Rebekah said.
“I’ve just been out, thought I’d have a me day,” you lied.
“A me day? Really? Is that why we just saw you kissing Jackson Kenner?” Kol questioned.
Your heart stopped in your chest when Kol said that. Oh no, you’d been caught. “What? I, uh,” you stuttered.
“Oh, wait ‘till your father hears about this, darling,” Kol replied, linking his arm with Y/N’s, Rebekah doing the same thing on her other side before they started walking down the street with her.
“Please, you can’t tell my dad, he’ll kill Jack and I can’t have that,” you pleaded. They seemed to ignore your pleas and continued walking towards home with you. Great, just great. This is not the way you wanted your family to find out about you and Jackson.
Klaus was sat in the living room with Hope on his knee, Elijah was sat opposite him on the armchair with a book in his hand. Freya was next to him showing Hope a butterfly she had made appear, Hayley was out for the night, and Marcel had just arrived and was waiting for Rebekah to get back. “I wonder where your sister is, little wolf,” he said to Hope, smiling at her when she smiled at him. He hadn’t seen Y/N since this morning when she said she was going out. Then, as if on cue, she came through the door with Kol and Rebekah. “Ah, there you are, sweetheart,” he said with a smile. His smile faltered when he saw the fear in her Y/E/C eyes. “What’s going on?”
“Go on, tell him, Y/N,” Rebekah insisted.
Klaus handed Hope to Freya and stood up from the couch. He waited for Freya to leave the room to put Hope in bed before speaking. “Tell me what?”
You pulled your arms out of Kol and Rebekah’s grips and glared at them before looking at your dad. “Nothing, there’s nothing to tell you,” you lied. You went to move past him to go upstairs to your room but were soon stopped by him gently grabbing your arm, stopping you from going anywhere.
“Sweetheart, you better tell me what’s going on. I’d say from the looks on Kol and Rebekah’s faces that there’s something you’re not telling me,” Klaus said. Y/N just shook her head and told him it was nothing.
“Fine, if you’re not going to tell him, I will,” Kol said. He got a pleading look from Y/N, but he ignored that. He did feel a little bit bad, but he couldn’t have his niece running around with a werewolf. “While Rebekah and I were walking down the street, we caught or darling Y/N kissing Jackson Kenner.”
“What? That better be a bloody lie,” Klaus barked. No way was he having his daughter run around and date a werewolf. “Are you crazy? He’s a werewolf. He could kill you when he turns. You call him and you end it. Now.”
“No,” you hissed, ripping your arm from his grip. “I’ve been with Jack through the past seven full moons and he has never once harmed me. He wouldn’t do that to me.”
“My dear, why didn’t you tell us?” Elijah asked. “I would usually be on your side with things like this, but this is Jackson we’re talking about, he’s not exactly the best choice for you.”
You scoffed out a laugh. “Why didn’t I tell you? This is exactly why I didn’t tell you. I knew that if I told you about me and Jack that you would all freak out and be your usual overprotective selves because apparently, I can’t do anything in my life without one of you doing something to ruin it. I’m not going to let that happen this time, not with Jack. I love him, can’t you just allow me that bit of happiness?”
“You’re too young to know what being in love feels like, sweetheart,” Klaus told her. He did not want his daughter with a werewolf who could turn around and kill her at any moment. He sent Kol a look and watched as his brother quickly and quietly left. Yes, he and his siblings did tend to be overprotective, but Y/N was the second youngest and all they wanted was for her to be safe. None of them could stand the thought of something happening to her. “If you don’t call him right now, I’ll take your phone and call him myself.”
“Too young? Are you kidding me? I don’t know if you’ve noticed dad, but I’m 20 years old. Therefore, I can date who I want, even if it’s someone you don’t approve of,” you told him. “I am not going to break it off with Jackson.”
“Klaus,” Marcel piped up. “Maybe you should just let her be with him. Do you not remember when Rebekah and I first started dating? We did that behind your back, but you eventually came to accept it because you saw how happy Rebekah was with me. Can’t you see how happy she is with him?”
You looked at Marcel and gave him a smile. At least he understood. You were about to thank him when the door crashed open and Kol came in, you hadn’t even seen him leave. Your eyes went wide and you were filled with fear when you saw that he was dragging in Jackson by the collar of his shirt. “Jack,” you croaked, your voice full of worry and fear. You pushed past your father and Elijah to get to Jackson and pulled Kol’s hand from his shirt. “Are you okay?” you asked, gently taking his face between your hands, your fingers gently running over the bruise that was forming on his cheek.
“Yeah, don’t worry, I’m fine,” Jackson reassured her, putting his hands over hers. Kol had appeared in front of his car and when he stopped the car, Kol had dragged him out of the car, punched him in the face, and then brought him here.
“You won’t be fine in a minute, mate,” Klaus said through clenched teeth as he stalked closer to Y/N and Jackson. “You picked the wrong girl to date. I can’t allow you to date Y/N. So, you either break it off right here and now or I will have to tear your heart from your chest,” he threatened.
“I am not breaking up with her, Klaus,” Jackson replied.
“Well, looks like I’ll have to tear your heart from your chest then,” Klaus told him. There was part of him that felt bad about doing this, but the larger part, the part of him that was a father and wanted to protect his little girl, wasn’t going to stand for it.
At your father’s words, you placed yourself in front of Jackson, protecting him with your body. You knew that no one in your family would dare to lay a finger on you, so this was the only way to ensure Jackson’s safety. “I know you’re protective, but killing him is a step too far. You want to kill him? Then you kill me.”
Freya had heard the entire situation and had decided that she was on Y/N’s side for this. So, once she heard that Jackson was here, she left Hope who was now asleep and stood at the top of the stairs. She quietly did a spell that would knock out everyone but herself, Y/N, Jackson, and Marcel, since she knew he wouldn’t stop them. She watched her family fall to the floor and when Y/N, Jackson, and Marcel looked up at her, she gave them a small smile. “You two should get out of here. I’ll talk to them,” she told Y/N and Jackson. “Go, quickly. Get yourself somewhere safe, I’ll let you know when it’s safe to come home. I’ll convince them to accept Jackson.”
“Thank you, Freya,” you and Jackson said. You gave her and Marcel smiles before leaving. “Okay, where are we going to go?”
“The Bayou. It’s the only safe place. Your family won’t come there,” Jackson replied.
So, you went to the Bayou with Jackson. You didn’t know how long you’d have to stay there for, but you would stay there for as long as it was necessary. You hoped that with time, your family, especially your father, would be able to accept your relationship with Jackson.
